Let’s talk

Five Dock · Great North Road

Web design for Great North Road.

Five Dock's shopping strip runs along Great North Road between Lyons Road and Queens Road, with a long run of small, family-run businesses.

Many sell Italian food: delis, bakeries, pasticcerie and restaurants. We build websites that show the counter, the menu and the catering list as clearly as the shop window does.

What a Five Dock business website needs

  • Menus written as text
  • Catering orders with lead times
  • Ferragosto trading hours
  • Photos of the counter and family
  • Bus stops and nearby parking
  • Italian names spelled properly

The local picture

An Italian strip, still family-run.

Great North Road is Five Dock's main street, a long line of shops, banks, restaurants and services with a high share of small local businesses. Many of those sell Italian food, which reflects the suburb's strong Italian community.

Every year the strip closes for Ferragosto, the City of Canada Bay's Italian street festival on Great North Road. Businesses that trade on the day or take orders for it need their site to say so well before the weekend.

Five Dock is also getting its first rail link: a Sydney Metro West station off Great North Road. When it opens, more people will arrive on foot from the station. A clear website with a map and hours becomes the first stop.

Good questions

Five Dock questions.

Can our deli take catering orders through the website?

Yes. We can add an order form that asks for the date, the number of guests and the items, with your lead time stated up front. For full online payment we would scope an online store instead.

How should we show Ferragosto trading on our site?

Add a short notice to the home page and your hours a few weeks out, with what you are selling on the day and any preorder deadline. We set sites up so you can change those notices yourself or send them to us.

What is the simplest website option for a family shop?

The Launch Website is $49/month plus $199 setup or $599 once-off with the first year of hosting included. It covers up to five pages, hosting and maintenance.

Can the site show both Italian and English?

Yes. Product and dish names can stay in Italian with an English description beside them, which keeps the character of the shop and still reads clearly for everyone.
